Ever wondered how some online stores seem to know exactly what customers want to buy? That's because they use a product recommendation system! This smart filter predicts and suggests items that customers are likely to love, making the shopping experience a breeze.

Similarly Engage's email builder provides a powerful tool for boosting conversion rates called the Product Recommendation feature.

Benefits of adding Product Recommendations to messages

This tool enables businesses to suggest products to their customers via email, increasing the likelihood of a purchase, based on previous visitor and buyer behavior

Types of Product Recommendations on Engage

The Product Recommendation feature offers three distinct types of recommendations: Related, Bestsellers, and Most viewed.

  1. Related recommendations are tailored to the customer's browsing or purchase history, ensuring that the suggested products are relevant to their interests. The number of products recommended can be customized to suit the business's needs, ranging from one to six products. It’s important to note that this type is only available in Flows.

  2. Bestsellers suggest products that are currently popular among the store’s customers.

  3. Most Viewed recommendation type suggests products that have received the most views on the store’s website. These types of recommendations are particularly useful for businesses that have a large product inventory or are looking to promote specific items

Where to use Product Recommendations

The Product Recommendation feature offered by the Email builder is a powerful tool that can be utilized in both Flows and Campaigns to increase conversion rates.

Here are some important points to keep in mind:

  • The ‘Related Recommendation’ type is restricted to Flows. If it is used in a Campaign, it will default to the Bestsellers recommendation type.

  • If the flow in which product recommendations are to be used begins with a trigger event that has no product ID (e.g., Viewed page), Engage presents the Bestsellers recommendation type, regardless of the recommendation type selected by the user (both related and most viewed recommendations require a product ID to be triggered).

  • Standard dual layouts are available for the Product Recommendation feature, including rows and 2-column views. In case a higher number of recommendations are selected, the view will have multiple rows with 2 recommendation tiles in each.
